taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Tetris Cup challenge
Individuals division. Remy won a $1,500 travel voucher, Traci won a
32" Sony Bravia HDTV and Tyler won an iPod Touch.
In the Teams division, first place went to Team Final Boss made up of
team members Remy Zane, Shyrah Esteban, Tyler Wakamoto and Michelle
Yokota. Each won a Nintendo Wii.
Second place went to Pokeymanz with team members Calvin Wong, Corey
Galon, Kyle Tani and Nikki Arakawa. Each won an iPod nano.
Third place went to JDAN made up of team members Andrew Pham, David
Ha, Jonathan Lum and Nancy Tran. Each won a $100 Dave & Buster's gift
card.
Two Registered Independent Organizations won $250 cash: The Japanese
Culture Club and the Pre-Pharmacy Association.

$5,000 in Prizes Awarded to Tetris Cup Challenge 2007 Tournament Champions HONOLULU, HI
University of Hawaii student Remy Zane won 4 rounds of play, losing none, to take first place in the Individuals division of the first Tetris Cup Challenge tournament held at the University of Hawaii. The tournament was held Friday, November 16 at the University of Hawaii Campus Center Ballroom. Zane received a $1500 travel voucher for his efforts. Taking second and third were Traci Hamamoto and Tyler Wakamoto. The tournament’s individuals division had 16 players participate in a single elimination, best-of-three competition to crown the Tetris Cup Challenge champion.
Team Final Boss took first place in the teams division, winning a Nintendo Wii for each of its four team members, among them Remy Zane. In total, almost $5000 in prizes were awarded to individual and team winners.
The debut of the Tetris Cup Challenge at the University of Hawaii took place over the course of two weeks in November 2007, pitting the top 16 players and teams in a head to head match to crown the best Tetris players.
Tetris, the world’s most popular puzzle video game, has sold more than 70 million units worldwide and has been released on nearly every gaming platform.
